Finfish Advisory Committee Meeting

Colonial Beach, VA — The Potomac River Finfish Advisory Committee, which is comprised of private citizens and industry representatives, will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in the John T. Parran Hearing Room in the PRFC Office, Colonial Beach, Virginia.

Items on the agenda will include, but may not be limited to: a preview of the ASMFC summer meeting; review of finfish regulations for an upcoming public hearing in September concerning fish trot lines, senior license fees for commercial licenses and recreational license fees; discussions on the removal of pound net marker poles, Shad & River Herring management, Kitts Point reef, VA DGIF Crappie creel limits and Striped Bass summertime aggregations. The Committee will review the upcoming commercial gill net season and make recommendations to the Commission. Updates will be provided on Mallows Bay and the Possum Point coal ash permit.

Any recommendations developed by this committee will be forwarded to the Potomac River Fisheries Commission for consideration prior to implementation.

The Potomac River Fisheries Commission coordinates regulations with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) and the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, (DGIF) and with the other Atlantic coastal states through the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC).
