Recreational Fishing - Free Angler Registry

WHO MUST REGISTER

  1. Person fishing from private real property
  2. Guest on a licensed pleasure boat
  3. VA freshwater licensee (if fishing inthe tidal Potomac River)

WHO DOESN’T REGISTER

  1. Under the age of 16
  2. Have a MD/VA/PRFC individual/ tidal/saltwater sport fishing license
  3. The person listed on a MD/VA/PRFC pleasure boat license (guest must register)
  4. If fishing on a licensed charter/head/guide boat

The Potomac River Fisheries Commission coordinates regulations with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) and the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, (DGIF) and with the other Atlantic coastal states through the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC).
